Getting to Millerntor

✈️ By Plane

There are direct flights from London, Manchester, and several other UK airports to Hamburg (HAM). Flight time is about 1 hour 40 minutes. From the airport, take the S1 S-Bahn straight into the city centre. It’s about 25 minutes.

Millerntor Stadium is right in the heart of Hamburg’s St. Pauli district, just a short hop from the city centre. The easiest way to get there is on the U3 to St. Pauli station. It’s about a 5-minute walk to the ground. You can also stroll down from the Reeperbahn in around 10 minutes, which makes for a pretty lively pre-match walk.

Captain’s recommendation, take the U3 to St. Pauli and arrive at least 90-minute before kickoff. Explore the streets, grab a drink, and soak up that famous St. Pauli atmosphere before heading into the ground.

🍺 Best Pubs.

The St. Pauli district is packed with characterful pubs. Jolly Roger is a well-known FC St. Pauli supporters pub. While along the Reeperbahn you’ll find plenty of lively bars within about a ten to fifteen minute walk of the ground. It’s easy to soak up the atmosphere before kickoff.

⭐ Captain’s Recommendation

My pick: The Jolly Roger.

Arrive early and enjoy a drink around St. Pauli before the match. The area really comes alive on match days and is a big part of the St. Pauli experience. Then head to the Jolly Roger Fan pub before heading to the game.

🍔 Food & Drink

St. Pauli is one of Hamburg’s liveliest districts, and the area around the stadium is full of pubs, bars, and late-night food spots. Jolly Roger is a well-known St. Pauli supporters pub, and the Reeperbahn is just up the road if you’re after a pre- or post-match drink.

⭐ Captain’s Tip

Grab a drink in the St. Pauli district before kickoff and enjoy the atmosphere. It’s part of what makes Millerntor special.

📸 Best Photo Opportunities

Millerntor is packed with characterful photo spots. Don’t miss the skull and crossbones imagery, the FC St. Pauli crest outside the ground, the Millerntor signage, and the colourful murals dotted around the area.

Don’t miss:

📍 The Club crest statue

📍 The Millerntor signage

📍 The Jolly Roger Pub

📍 The Stadium Murals

⭐ Captain’s Tip

Do a full lap of the stadium before kick-off. The best shots are often outside where the club’s identity really comes alive.

🏨 Where to Stay

For the best matchday experience, stay in the St. Pauli or Neustadt districts. Both are walkable to the Millerntor and packed with hotels, bars, and good late-night food. The Reeperbahn’s nightlife is right there too, and the city center is just a quick U-Bahn ride away.

Captain’s Recommendation

If the budget allows, stay in St. Pauli itself. You’ll be right in the heart of the action. Stadium, pubs, restaurants, and the Reeperbahn all on your doorstep.

🫡 Captain’s Verdict

Millerntor isn’t the biggest ground you’ll visit, but it’s one of the most memorable. Compact, full of character, and absolutely worth the trip. I’d happily go back, with or without a ticket.”
